Let’s talk fruits!
Did you know there are tons of fruit-based ingredients that are great for both your hair and skin? Yup, like TONS. Today we’ll be covering what we consider to be the top 5 fruit-based ingredients! Keep in mind, as always, that your skin might not react perfectly to all. But this trend is certainly worth a shot if you’re looking for naturally-derived products to perk up your beauty routine!
An apple a day keeps the doctor away! (And apparently the dermatologist too.) The peel of an apple contains tons of polyphenols, which are antioxidants that helps protect our skin from UV damage. Apples are also rich in vitamin C and vitamin A! Not to mention, the acidity of an apple helps to rebalance our scalp and sebum and can act as a natural toner.
As you guys know, avocado oil is very beneficial for the skin! And so is pretty much any extract that you can get out of this fruit. Seriously, could we be more obsessed? Thanks to the antioxidants and fatty acids in avocados, this fruit helps protect and moisturize our skin. It’s a great ingredient to use when your skin is extra dry!
Potassium isn’t just good for sore muscles, my friend! Bananas are filled with vitamins and minerals that are great for the skin as well. Potassium hydrates, vitamin A helps prevent and fade acne spots, vitamin C helps boost collagen production and lectin removes bacteria. Sooo basically, bananas can do it all!
Remember how AHAs are super amazing for anti-aging? Well, as it turns out, pineapples are filled with alpha-hydroxy acids! Not to mention, they also contain vitamin C. Best of both worlds! This yummy fruit is great at minimizing wrinkles, reducing dark spots, boosting hydration and giving our skin an overall glowy complexion.
And last but certainly not least on our list of fruit-based ingredients…watermelon! Watermelons are not only hydrating, but they’re also full of vitamins and amino acids that are great for the hair and skin. Want to control oil production? Turn to watermelon! It contains vitamin A, which helps oil production at bay. Want faster growing hair? Turn to watermelon! This powerful fruit contains an amino acid called arginine that helps increase blood circulation in the scalp. Seriously, watermelon is the best!
