Myth: Expensive Products Always Work Better
Just this past week, Patrick threw his back out and I was standing at CVS trying to decide which medication to buy him. I was looking at the CVS brand of ibuprofen and the brand name (Motrin) and I was shocked at the price difference! You know what that little voice in my head told me? That expensive products always work better. UGH. So I bought the Motrin… #regrets.
After all my time experimenting with Certifiably Obsessed, I should’ve known that just because a product is more expensive…it doesn’t mean it’s destined to work better. DUH!
Truth: Affordable Products Can Work Better Than Expensive Ones
Trust us on this one. We’ve experimented with products that range from $8 to $120 and, not saying those pricey products don’t hold up the bargain, but usually we’d rather reach for our more wallet-friendly friends! And who doesn’t love a good deal, right?!
We’ve gathered our top five fav beauty products that are all under $30. We suggest you give ‘em a try if you haven’t already!!
#1 Cocokind Rosewater Toner
You know how people say you should always stop and smell the roses? Well my friends, you can now do that every single day from the comfort of your own vanity. Seriously! This Cocokind Rosewater Toner LITERALLY smells like roses in a bottle. It is so refreshing!
Every morning and night, after we’ve washed our faces, Claudia and I spray the toner onto a cotton pad and gently dab away. It helps to get rid of any lingering debris and also balances our skin’s pH (major key when it comes to clear skin!). #2 Glossier Balm Dotcom
I’m definitely a “lip balm addict”. I keep lip balm everywhere; all my purses and bags, the cup holder in my car, my bedside table, and just about every coat pocket. I used to be highly loyal to Burt’s Bees in the summer and Blistex in the winter… until I met Balm Dotcom. Bye-bye never-ending need for chapstick, hello long-lasting moisture!

#3 NUDESTIX Eyebrow Stylus Pencil & Gel
Claudia finds this stuff to be amazing. Seriously. The pencil is perfectly shaped to match the direction in which brow hairs grow making it really easy to get that natural, filled-in brow look. You can lightly feather the color on for a lighter look or give it a little more pressure for a bolder look. Finish it off with the ultra powerful clear gel and you’re done. No messy brow hairs in sight!
Not to mention the color and gel are actually longwearing. This stuff stays on until you decide you want it off. Don’t worry though, the color and gel come off super easy with a little face wash or coconut oil (Claudia’s new favorite makeup remover!).

#4 Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water
This stuff works wonders. Just a little on a cotton pad goes a long, long way! One cotton pad, front and back, cleans off my face makeup and eye makeup. Just a couple wipes and poof! Seriously guys, this stuff is magical. Even after washing my face, there was plenty of nastiness that had yet to come off. GROSS. And don’t get me started with the residue that comes off after my night shower.
Let’s just say that cotton pad is about 10x dirtier…you think you got your makeup off with your face wash? HA! Think again.
Not only does it leave your face nice and clean (You don’t even need to rinse after!), but it also moisturizes it thanks to those molecular oils. You know how they say when you find that perfect person, you just know? That’s the feeling I had with my Billie razor. Nope, I’m not being even the slightest bit dramatic. This razor is life changing! Since the razor is encased in aloe soap, I thought it would be best to give it a full trial run. So, I shaved without soap…(GASP!) And you know what happened? Since that day, I have never shaved with soap again. That’s how amazing this razor is you guys! My legs have never been more silky smooth.
