Just like most things in life, Claudia and I’s journey with eye creams is a total work in progress. I think what makes eye creams so difficult to assess is that the progress can be so gradual. I feel like by the time an eye cream starts visibly working, I’ve been using it for months…the change has been gradual…and I don’t even notice it. UGH.
My biggest desire with eye creams? INSTANT results. Call me a stereotypical Millennial…I don’t care. This girl loves instant progress and results.
Eye Spy A Learning Lesson
So today’s learning lesson is…our journey with eye creams is a work in progress. And though you’ll soon find out that we have some that we like and others that we don’t, we’re not going to stop trying different eye creams! But, we figured since we have more than a few that have gone through the CO Experimentation Process…we might as well update you on where we’re at!
Here’s a breakdown of our eye cream reivews for ya! Cream by cream.

First Aid Beauty Detox Eye Roller
The Rundown
- Product: First Aid Beauty Detox Eye Roller
- Price: $26
- Where to buy: Our Shop Page!
- Perks: Formulated without…parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and artificial colorants and fragrances. Safe for sensitive skin. Cruelty-free.
First up in our compilation of eye cream reviews…it’s not even a cream! Lol. I was SO excited about this product. To me, I thought of it as an eye cream and a trendy jade roller all in one! No? Just me? With peptides and caffeine as two of the main active ingredients, I had high hopes for this little one. The main purpose of this product is to depuff your eyes. So if depuffing is your thing…listen up!
I have to admit, I haven’t used this product without another eye cream. I always use an eye cream first and then layer this on top, when I use it, just because it takes a minute or two to dry. This product works best, for me, in the morning when my eyes are at the absolute puffiest. Just 2-3 rolls from corner to corner, under the eye, wait a few minutes…and poof! Instant relief. My only issue with it is it kinda stings a little when you first put it on…at least for me it does!
First Aid Beauty Detox Eye Roller Results
Even though I do totally see a reduction in puffiness when I use this product, I can’t give it my full stamp of approval because I don’t feel like I can use it alone. It’s good as an additional product, but honestly, no one has time for more products…am I right?!
So, this product get’s a 6 out of 10 from me because of the above reasons and I don’t think I would buy it again!
FYI: This is the cheapest eye product we have on today’s blog post. Moral of the story: eye products ain’t cheap, friends! If you’re looking for some bang for your buck and puffiness is your main/only problem, this may be the way you want to go.
Drunk Elephant Shaba Complex Eye Serum
The Rundown
- Product: Drunk Elephant Shaba Complex Eye Serum
- Price: $60
- Where to buy: Our Shop Page!
- Perks: Free from…Sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, Triclosan, Triclocarban.
You all must know by now that I’m a total Drunk Elephant fan. I mean big time. Their stuff just works. Simple as that. Oh shoot…did I just give this review away in the first sentence? #spoileralert. The brand is full of clean products that are proven to work. The biggest problem with Drunk Elephant? The price.
When it comes to Drunk Elephant, I always recommend to buy their trial packs first. For example, I’ve tried the Rise + Glo Duo and learned that I loved it, without having to risk over $100 to try both full size products…love! I found myself with the Shaba Complex Eye Serum when I purchased a pack called, The Littles, to experiment with almost the entire Drunk Elephant line.
Drunk Elephant Shaba Complex Eye Serum Results
Before the DE Shaba Complex Eye Serum, I was using the Arbonne RE9 Eye Cream and it was working pretty well, but just like I mentioned before, nothing crazy! Once I started using the Shaba Complex, my eyes totally changed! They were significantly less puffy on a daily basis. Not to mention, the skin around my eyes had some bounce to it again. Yes!!
Here’s the thing…this is going to sound like a rave review (and it is), and I’m going to give the Drunk Elephant Shaba Complex Eye Serum a CO Stamp of Approval, BUT with a caveat…
This serum WORKS. It’s the only truly clean eye serum that has worked for me thus far. The reason why I’m giving you a caveat is that it works, but it’s super pricey. For that reason, I’m giving the DE Shaba Complex Eye Serum a 9 out of 10.
So, if you’re someone that values clean ingredients over price, then add to cart! But if you’re someone who likes to stick to a budget…keep reading.
First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy A.M. Gel Cream
The Rundown
- Product: First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy A.M. Gel Cream
- Price: $36
- Where to buy: Our Shop Page!
- Perks: Formulated without…parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and artificial colorants and fragrances. Safe for sensitive skin.
I was initially really excited about this product because of our love for the First Aid Beauty Tinted Moisturizer and how much Claudia loves their Ultra Repair Cream. Obviously, this brand makes stuff that WORKS. Right off the bat, my biggest issue with this product was the name. It’s way too freakin’ long…just saying. That aside, when it comes to your morning eye cream needs…look no further, friends! Don’t believe me? It even has an Allure Best of Beauty Award!
Have you ever put cucumbers on your eyes?
You know, like back when you used to play spa in your bathroom with your friends? That’s how the First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy A.M. Gel Cream feels on your eyes. REFRESHING AF. This product makes me want to have a skincare fridge, like the Skinny Confidential (and plenty of other trendy people), because I feel like it would work even better than it already does!
First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Riple Remedy A.M. Gel Cream Results
I need the First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy A.M. Gel Cream back in my life…NOW. Ever since it’s been gone I’ve been oh-so-sad because my dark, puffy eyes have totally returned, with vengeance.
When I was using this product regularly, my under eyes were calm, cool and collected…literally. My skin was hydrated and soothed, they were cooled by the amazing gel, and the skin was nice a taunt. Obviously, the First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy A.M. Gel Cream totally deserves a 10 out of 10 in my book (it may be my fav eye cream yet!).
Claudia’s Experiment with the Biossance Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel
The Rundown
- Product: Biossance Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel
- Price: $54
- Where to buy: Sephora
- Perks: Free from…Sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, triclocarban.
I was really excited to try this eye gel because it claimed that 96% of the people who tried it agreed that the dark circles under their eyes were visibly reduced. And hello! I have major dark circles (thanks to my dad’s genes). When I saw that Biossance was running a promotion where you could order a free a sample set of their eye gel and vitamin C oil if you just paid $5 for shipping, I was like, “Heck yeah! I need some of that!” So add to cart I did.
I loved the fact that it was a “clean” eye gel. It’s fragrance free, paraben free, PEG free, nontoxic, vegan and cruelty free. Plus it was chock-full of good ingredients, like:
- Squalane – hydrates and locks in moisture
- Eyeseryl + Argireline – reduces puffiness and signs of dark circles
- Swiss Apple Stem Cell Extract – brightens the under eye area
What Happened
As soon as I got the Biossance Peptide Eye Gel in the mail, I started using it on a daily basis. I would apply a pea-sized amount all over my eyes, from the under eye area up to the brows, morning and night. The gel was very soothing on the skin and it absorbed nicely, so no complaints there! Typically, eye creams make the skin under my eyes break out a bit. But this one never did!
The entire sample bottle lasted me about a month and a half, which is not bad. However, it was very hard for me to see any results. At one point, I thought my dark circles looked worse! Lol Being the millennial that I am, I was frustrated at the fact that I wasn’t seeing results quickly. (And that’s probably why I have such a weird relationship with eye creams…I need to results FAST people!) But nevertheless, I continued using the eye gel twice a day until I finished the bottle, hoping that I would notice a big difference in my before-and-after pics.
Biossance Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel Results
Even though it did slightly reduce the dark circles under my eyes, I don’t think I can attribute that completely to this gel. Stress, hydration, quality of sleep, nutrition…all of these things play a factor in this! And you know how they say you never really appreciate something until it’s gone? Well, I’m sad to report that I have not noticed a difference in my eyes since I stopped using the eye gel a month ago. I don’t really miss it one bit. So it’s hard for me to justify spending $54 on an eye gel that isn’t out-of-this-world amazing.
Plus, the reviews on their site show that a lot of people have had bad skin reactions after using this product. It seems like more research needs to be done on their part when it comes to some of the ingredients that are in this gel! Which goes to show that you definitely can’t blindly trust when a product is labeled as “clean.” So for all of these reasons, sadly I can only give Biossance Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel a 1 out of 10.
Sorry, Biossance!!

Farmacy Dew It All Total Eye Cream Results
I’m sad to report that this eye cream did nothing for my eyes! I’ve been using it morning and night for a long while now and ugh…no results. In fact, my eyes are craving more love. So for now, Farmacy will receive a 1 out of 10…at least just for this product!
