True story: I saw those Frank Body before and afters on Instagram and I was sold.
Well, it wasn’t instantaneous…but you know when you see something enough on Instagram and you finally give in? That was me. There were amazing before and afters of women treating everything from ezcema to stretch marks (hello pregnancy!) with this coffee scrub…I couldn’t believe my eyes!
Of course, instead of just trying one thing, I bought a bunch of things in hopes to cover all areas of need: face, hair and body. Here’s what I purchased:
- Original Coffee Scrub
- Coconut Coffee Scrub
- Express-O Scrub
- In Your Dreams Sleep Scrub & Soak
- Caffeinated Hair Mask
- Caffeinated Scalp Scrub
- Original Face Scrub
- Glow Face Mask
Ready to hear how my experimentation went? Let’s break it down one by one!
Original Coffee Scrub
- Price: $16.95
- Shop: Ulta or Frank Body (use code HPUS10FWGKBEOAIMQN for 10% off)
- Perks: Non-toxic, naturally-derived ingredients, cruelty-free, vegan
Well, let’s just start this off with a winner, shall we? This Frank Body OG is my absolute favorite of all the products I tried. I use this in the shower 2-3 times per week. I use one big handfull and massage it all over my body (except for my face), let it sit on my skin for about 3 minutes and then rinse. Afterwards, my skin is SO soft from the exfoliating coffee grounds, plus the almond oil and vitamin E…SO good!
What I love:
- Smells amazing! It really just smells like coffee…because it is!
- Not too tough of a scrub. Meaning, it doesn’t hurt when you massage it in. It’s really gentle, yet effective.
- Leaves my skin feeling really soft and hydrated.
- It even helps clear up my keratosis pilaris on the back of my arms!!
What I don’t love:
- It can get messy! Prepare for coffee grounds to be everywhere. If you don’t have a handheld spray nozzle in your shower, make sure you have a cup in there to fill up with water and rinse down your walls.
Would I buy it again? Yep!
Coconut Coffee Scrub
- Price: $18.95
- Shop: Ulta or Frank Body (use code HPUS10FWGKBEOAIMQN for 10% off)
- Perks: Non-toxic, naturally-derived ingredients, cruelty-free, vegan
The Frank Body Coconut Coffee Scrub is very similar to the OG scrub, but with the addition of coconut oil and grapeseed oil. I use this one the same way I used the OG scrub and it produces similar results! If you’re a coconut fan, then you’ll love this one. I personally prefer the OG scrub, just scent-wise.
What I love:
- Gentle, yet effective. It’s not a tough scrub!
- Leaves my skin feeling really soft and hydrated.
- It even helps clear up my keratosis pilaris on the back of my arms!!
What I don’t love:
- I prefer the scent of the OG one more!
- It can get messy! Prepare for coffee grounds to be everywhere. If you don’t have a handheld spray nozzle in your shower, make sure you have a cup in there to fill up with water and rinse down your walls.
Would I buy it again? Nope.
Express-O Scrub
- Price: $19.95
- Shop: Ulta or Frank Body (use code HPUS10FWGKBEOAIMQN for 10% off)
- Perks: Non-toxic, naturally-derived ingredients, cruelty-free, vegan
I believe Frank Body created this product to avoid the messes of the previous two scrubs, which is great! This is more of a paste-like scrub so you could apply it before your shower to dry skin for more of a rough scrub or in the shower on wet skin for a softer one. It’s great because you get all the perks of the other scrubs but no mess!
What I love:
- The smell! This one has cinnamon in it (coffee too, of course) so it reminds me of a delicious latte!
- The ease of use. No messes are my friend!
- Super exfoliating thanks to the raw sugar and coffee grinds. Yet, still very hydrating thanks to the sweet almond and macadamia oil.
What I don’t love:
- It’s a few dollars pricier than the other two.
Would I buy it again? Yep!
In Your Dreams Sleep Scrub & Soak
- Price: $18.95
- Shop: Frank Body (use code HPUS10FWGKBEOAIMQN for 10% off)
- Perks: Non-toxic, naturally-derived ingredients, cruelty-free, vegan
If you’ve followed us for a while now, you know I love my baths! I usually take one at least 1-2 times per week. I’m a big fan of using the basics: epsom salts, oils, etc. Nothing too fancy, but stuff that gets the job done. I would consider this product to be a fancy extra product to add to your bath! Personally, it doesn’t last long enough to justify the price, but here are my thoughts:
What I love:
- Smells amazing! Definitely have the lavender and chamomile to thank for that.
- Doubles as a skin scrub and salts for your bath.
- So, so, SO relaxing. Seriously, it makes me want to fall asleep in the tub.
What I don’t love:
- The price for the amount of use you get. I would say this lasts for 3-4 baths…and that’s just not enough justification for me.
- I still had to use a cup or so of standard epsom salt because just using a little bit of scrub wasn’t enough salts for me.
Would I buy it again? Nope.
Caffeinated Scalp Scrub
- Price: $18.95
- Shop: Ulta or Frank Body (use code HPUS10FWGKBEOAIMQN for 10% off)
- Perks: Non-toxic, naturally-derived ingredients, cruelty-free, no PEGS, no parabens, no phthalates
If you’re dealing with product build up on your scalp, you’ll love this! I was using cheaper shampoos/conditioners for a while there and my scalp really needed some love. I use this scrub once per week or so. Really, I just use it when I feel like my scalp could use a refresh!
What I love:
- The peppermint and eucalyptus are so refreshing and invigorating!
- It’s really gritty so it is very effective at pulling up build-up and dead skin.
- It rinses out pretty well when you follow it up with any shampoo.
- My scalp feels so clean and revitalized after using this.
What I don’t love:
- It’s hard to distribute the product throughout your scalp. I feel like I have to use a lot more than what’s directed just to ensure I really get it everywhere. Then again, most scalp scrubs are difficult to use.
Would I buy it again? Yep!
Caffeinated Hair Mask
- Price: $16.95
- Shop: Frank Body (use code HPUS10FWGKBEOAIMQN for 10% off)
- Perks: Non-toxic, naturally-derived ingredients, cruelty-free, no PEGS, no parabens, no phthalates
Who doesn’t love a good hair mask? I use this one about once a week after using the Caffeinated Scalp Scrub. After washing my hair with shampoo and rinsing out the scalp scrub, I use this as my mask/conditioner. The great thing is this is a mask you can use from root to tip! The ingredients are just as great for your scalp as they are for your hair. Pro tip: Use a wide-tooth comb to brush the product throughout your hair while in the shower.
What I love:
- It’s super creamy so it spreads throughout your hair really easily.
- My favorite ingredients? Niancinamide and keratin! Both are great at restoring your hair’s natural ability to protect and nourish itself.
- Super easy to rinse out! Feels just like conditioner.
- Smells really good!
What I don’t love:
- Nothing!
Would I buy it again? Yep!
Original Face Scrub
- Price: $21.95
- Shop: Frank Body (use code HPUS10FWGKBEOAIMQN for 10% off)
- Perks: Non-toxic, naturally-derived ingredients, cruelty-free, no PEGS, no parabens, no phthalates
I love a good physical exfoliant in my routine! (If you want to know more about exfoliating in general, check this out!) And this is a really good scrub if you deal with acne and breakouts on the regular or if you’re looking to get rid of acne scars!
What I love:
- It has a creamy base so its the perfect balance between tough-ish exfoliants and nourishing creaminess!
- Smells really good…just like everything else from Frank Body! Gotta love coffee to love these products!
- Your face will feel super smooth after using this!
- It’s really good at clearing out those pores and removing dead skin.
What I don’t love:
- It’s a tad more rough than my preferred physical exfoliant (Cocokind Sea Moss Exfoliator), but still not too tough. The Cocokind Sea Moss I can use almost daily. Whereas this one I would only use once per week.
Would I buy it again? Probably.
Glow Face Mask
- Price: $21.95
- Shop: Ulta or Frank Body (use code HPUS10FWGKBEOAIMQN for 10% off)
- Perks: Non-toxic, naturally-derived ingredients, cruelty-free, no PEGS, no parabens, no phthalates
If you’re looking for a quick-fix, nourishing face mask…this is probably it! You only have to wear this mask for five minutes for it to do its thing. That’s it! Gotta love it. I use this anytime I use the Original Face Scrub, so about once per week.
What I love:
- It’s ultra hydrating thanks to shea and coconut butter! Plus coffee seed oil!
- It’s great for de-puffing due to the caffeine.
- There is a definite glow after using it thanks to the antioxidant powers of the goji berry.
- It smells SO good. Like vanilla frosting. Seriously it’s like you could eat it. Don’t do that though.
- There’s a low investment of your time. Only five minutes, rinse and boom done.
- It’s a great dupe for the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask since it’s ultra hydrating.
What I don’t love:
- Because of the shea and cocoa butters, I worry about leaving it on my skin too long. Sometimes I get distracted and rinse it off long after the five minutes is up. I would hate for those thick butters to be clogging my pores!
Would I buy it again? Yep!
There’s a lot to love about Frank Body!
While not every product was a true winner in my book, there are a few things that I really love about this brand overall:
- Dedication to clean products!
- The use of coffee…enough said.
- How generally affordable they all are.
If I had to pick my absolute favorite product of everything I tried, it would for sure be the Original Coffee Scrub. So if you’re not sure where to start, start there! It’s truly so good and so worth the hype.

[…] hydrated! For exfoliation, I always recommend using a dry brush and/or a physical body scrub like Frank Body. For hydration, I’m working on rounding up and experimenting with some pregnancy belly oils […]
